I love a good recipe. How about you? I especially like the ones that tickle my sweet tooth. A couple of neighbors gave me two of those this week. One was for strawberry bread. I’d never heard of it before, but I gave it a try and found it delightful—especially when topped with strawberry cream cheese.
Another neighbor gave me a recipe for bars called Oatmeal Continentals. They’re a chewy, chocolate-carmel treat on a killer oatmeal crust. Perfect for bringing to gatherings to share or having with your afternoon coffee.
Perhaps these will land in my favorite recipe file. However, it’s not just food recipes that I file there. Today I give you my favorite recipe for how to make happiness happen in your life. This recipe comes from Dr. Seuss and has the makings to help you be the best person you already are:
1. Dr. Suess says to begin by remembering:
Today you are you, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than you.
2. His recipe calls for no blending in:
Why fit in when you were born to stand
out? he says.
3. Then the directions call for adding all the ingredients you have within to get where you’re going.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
4. And while you’re traveling the direction you’ve chosen, he says don’t forget:
Be who you are and say what you feel, because
those who mind don’t matter, and those who
matter don’t mind.
5. Bake all of this into your brain and then frost it with this
thought daily:
Today I shall behave, as if this is the day I will
be remembered.
I hope you’ll try this recipe and make it one of your favorites, too. If you do, be sure to share it with others and make happiness happen for them, too.
